Angkor Siem Reap

Angkor Siem Reap is have alot fo travellers here, unless you fly into Siem Reap, at least one part of your anatomy is going to suffer on the long bus journey from Vietnam, Thailand or Laos! My journey, seven hours from Phnom Penh after a six hour connecting bus from Ho Chi Minh City was not exceptional. While most people visit in the morning, the best light to  photograph the front of the temple is in the afternoon. Sunrise over the towers of Angkor Wat is spectacular  and a very peaceful time compared to the crowds during the day. The five towers of Angkor Wat reach 65 metres above the ground at their  peak, the form of the towers is representative of the lotus flower, with each tier opening up  and the next rising up from the middle of the one before.

Angkor Wat
Angkor Wat is a spectacular temple

Angkor Wat is a spectacular temple in southwest in Cambodia, built by the vanished Khmer empire. It was constructed during the reign of king Suryavarman II, who ruled from 1113 to at least 1145. In those days, it was customary for the Khmer Empire to maintain a state temple at the heart of the city. However, when Suryavarman assumed power, the existing Baphuon state temple was dedicated to Shiva. Suryavarman worshiped Vishnu, and wished to honor him with a new temple south of the existing capital. This new state temple came to be called Angkor Wat, meaning .The city that is a temple.
